just installed my AEM intake

wow.........get this

today i tried to install my AEM cai......its cut right after the AE----M for the bypass valve......but i didnt want to take off the bumper cause it was really hot outisde.....so i just used it as a shortram intake...i put the k&n filter on it......i felt like i lost a good amount of throttle response....

however,
later tonight i installed the full intake to the wheel well.......the sound was more louder and the throttle response felt better.................what a difference

dc header install should be on thursday or this week and mugen exhaust should be within the month

received my 2nd aem cai system. figured that they would have figured it out already since my install 2 years ago on my 99 lude. THE BRACKET IS WELDED IN THE WRONG PLACE!! it needs to be 1.5 inches towards the passenger side. it barely makes it after bending it towards the rubber mount. aem said it has NEVER had any complaint about the fitment on the 5g ludes 97-01. is AEM right?

Did you remove the small black box for the butterfly where the mount should be?

I also had to bend mine...and it "barely" fit . I was not impressed the quality or fitment of my new polished AEM CAI. The alluminum also gets hot as hell at the TB. On the other hand, I am very pleased with the performance (other than the heat issue)... increased throttle response, smoother exceleration, and a noticeable power incease.

I had no problem with mine, except for the fact that it was my first mod to my car and I overlooked the fact that I needed to take the small black box off in order to mount the CAI properly. I wasn't thinking logically that the box was redundant since I had to remove the resonator/butterfly anyway... Took me 20 minutes to figure that out !!!

Once I took that off, it fit perfectly. Now, using a 10mm box wrench to get the bolt for the mount tight is another story - I could only tighten it in 1/4 turns....very frustrating when you're right at the end on the install....

I didn't know there were fitment probs with the AEM??? It's news to me. That sort of sucks - guess I got lucky.
