Just got my lude out of the shop...and i found a minor problem. can u guys help?

wsup luders,
like a month ago i crashed my car drifting, I dont know what I was thinking when i done it but I crashed my front rear wheel right into the curb. The shop people said i bent my lower control arm and basically everything on the front suspension except for the axle. Estimate was $1,400. But when i got my car back everything looks ok but when i drive it on a flat straight road, the steering wheel seems to be kind a off and pulls to the right just a bit. I dont know what is wrong but everything got replaced with new parts in the front suspension. THe people said it couls just be that my wheels need to be rotated. but i dont know. can u guys help me out what can be wrong....maybe ALIGNMENT?

Pulls to the right you say-yes it needs aligned again. Are you positive that there is NO damage to the frame attach points for the lower control arm. This is very unlikely, but sometimes happens. Also make absolutely certain the the CASTER is the same on both sides of your car. This is something that can be overlooked on a 5th gen as the radius rod is shimmed after taking the splash shield off (time consuming).
Rotating your tires is not the solution, but checking tire pressure is part of it.

Good Luck

I had the same exact problem. Bent tie-rod and a few other things. Everything was changed and I got it allinged and now I'm fine. BTW - your caster can be off and it actually won't pull your car to either side if the allingment is straight. What caster will do is make either your left or your right turns stronger or weaker respectively. Just wanted to clear that up.

Sorry man but since I work at an auto repair shop, I beg to differ. If caster varies by more that .5 degress from drivers/passenger side measurements, it can cause a pull. Normally Camber/caster adjust WITH each other, but on our ludes, camber = not adj unless you get a camber adj kit on there.

Check the alignment printout and look at the specs for each wheel. Also look at the section that says "Cross Camber" and "Cross Caster". Those should also be within specs.
"Coss" specs are the totals for both driv/pass wheels.

If your steering wheel is off centered and the car pulls in the opposite direction (ex: Steering wheel needs to be turned slightly left or it'll pull right" then the steering wheel needs to be recentered: probably toe will need to be readj to better center the wheel.

either way: getting an alignment prinout will point you in a better direction. if all is good, then by redoing the alignment, you should solve the pbm...
