Just bought a 01 prelude SH and have a couple of issues
hello!
i'm new here but not new to hondas, i've owned 4 civics from 94 to 2000 and just recently sold my 6 speed 2005 acura TL..i needed to downgrade due to payments, so i bought a 2001 prelude sh in black..the car has 97k on it and 2 owners, i paid 5600 for it, it is in pretty good conditon.. a couple of door dings and rock chips but nothing major... the only real issue i have with the car is the trunk won't stay open, you have to hold it up for it to stay open, what could this be? is this an easy fix? the dealer had no idea how to fix it.. thanks for any feedback..
1) Try to get a new set of OEM torsion springs that hold the lid up. They are nearly impossible to get in there without the tool that Honda sells for the purpose though.
ok thanks alot for the reply. instead of drilling holes and buying gas shocks, how much does honda charge to fix this, i was trying to keep it oem without any mods.
i would imagine honda would want a buttload of money. IMO, if you do a decent job with the gas struts, it should look fairly factory like. btw, Honda wanted $80 just to connect there lil diagnostics reader to check what my atts code was. i was like WHAT! ya right. the tech tried to give me some bs that the need to do a "proper" diagnostic. i laughed and left. kronn got my back...
if they wanted $80 to diagnose imagine what they want to roll up thier sleeves and actually do something. though i suppose i wouldnt hurt to give a quick call and ask.

Are the springs still in the car? I'm guessing that if you have aftermarket speakers in the rear deck that the springs were taken out by the PO when he put in the speakers. I could see Honda trying to charge somewhere ~$100 if you don't have the parts already. If you do, it probably only takes them a minute or two to put them in (provided they have the spring tool on hand).
im not really into family sedans or anything but that is a very clean tl sir. im not really into chrome rims either but you have successfully made it look good. looks chill

the tension/torsion bars ride against the trunk lid hinges. as you close the trunk, the bars rub against the hinges and provide tension. if your unsure if you really have them or not post a pic and ill let you know

i order my stuff in person at the dealership so just tell em you need the fuse cover and they should know what you need. or try searching ebay for a used one
