why was it just sitting for 2 months?
also how did you guys jump it? with cables? red to red black to black? if so thats prob your problem ..if not ..i dunno..
ive seen a few cars when they jump it doing it the red to red black to black fry there electrical systems. but i belive your supposed to ground the black connector on the car with the dead battery to a piece of metal somewhere instead of on the battery.

NEVER HOOK UP THE BATTERY CLAMPS ANY OTHER WAY THAN POS ( + red) TO POS( + red) AND NEGATIVE TO NEGATIVE!! For the negative clamp on the dead vehicle use a good solid metal piece (somewhere with very little paint preferably)
**************************************************

Please do not spread bad info like this, if u don't know, DON'T ANSWER!!! People could really blow some stuff up by reversing polarities!

I put it on the negative wire down near the starter, where it bolts to the block. The idea is to not make any kind of spark near a dead battery, they put off some pretty explosive vapors when they are dead.

i think you misunderstood what i said. of course its red to red black to ground what i said was dont do red to red black to black..(if so that could have been his problem.)
you gotta ground the black to a piece of metal on the car w/dead battery. of course i asked how he jumped the car..there are a whole slue of different ways to jump your car ive even see a few cigarette to cigarette lighter ways. some others too i think ive seen a solar charged version hehe

Sorry if I misunderstood you, and I had one of those solar chargers for the winter time a few years back. The car never had a real problem starting but with the charger it would fire up a little easier.

I don't think you would need another battery, (unless this one is toasted - regular car (and bike) batteries hate sitting for a long time discharged) It just sounds like this one needs a good charge. The only time I could see needing another battery is if you were running some MAD-ass 10,000 watt stereo, otherwise it's not nessesary. Try sticking the one you have on charge and it should come back OK.

I should maybe add that when you are storing a motor vehicle for a long time it's best to:

1: Add some fuel stabilizer at the last fill-up before you store it, then fill the tank as full as possible to prevent condensation from forming rust.

2: Remove the battery and fully carge it on a 2 amp charge , then store it in a warm dry place on a piece of scrap wood (so acid doesn't eat anything important)

3: Take the plugs out and squirt some storage oil into the cylinders to prevent rust (storage oil can be found at most powersports dealers) turn the motor over by hand a few times by hand, and replace the plugs and wires.

4: Just let the car/motorcycle SIT... Don't start it every week or couple of weeks! Starting a dry motor that has been sitting a while is the worst possible thing you can do to it, it has almost no oil on startup due to oil dropping into the pan over time.

5: Charge the battery with an automatic charger every 2 weeks-month to keep it happy! I have a charger called a 'Battery Tender' that shuts off automatically when the battery reaches full charge, so I leave it on that charger the whole time the battery is being stored.

It's a good idea to jack the car up on stands and take the weight off of the suspension and tires if you're storing for a LONG time.. (like many years).

Those Optima batteries rule.. I want one! Because of the load (and pullies spinning things slower) You might want to look at a better alternator for a little better charging, Stereo shops should be able to point you in the right direction for one of those if you need it!
