JDM H22+Tranny swap questions

Hey everyone.
I'm still considering the idea of dropping in a JDM H22 w/ tranny into my 5th gen. One can be picked up from Nippon Motors for fairly cheap (http://www.nippon-motors.com/honda.htm). I would also be doing the Auto to 5 spd swap at the same time. Below are a few questions I still have...

1) Any idea what it costs to get an engine swapped?
2) What is the exact compression ratio of the JDM H22 (not type S)?
3) Will it be emmissions legal? (I live in OH not CA)
4) Do I need other parts for the swap that I'm not thinking about? I know there was a thread discussing this but I didn't find it.

Thanks in advance.

1) IDK, I did it myself
2) 10.6:1
3) I believe it's fine.
4) IDK what parts you are thinking about but you'll need a ton of them if you are doing an auto swap to manual.

There are several threads. At a minimum you need the pedal box for the clutch pedal, manual shifter housing and cables, clutch master cyl, and the hydraulic lines. This is an involved swap. To do it right you will want the 5-spd ECU, some wiring work, and the manual cluster. Otherwise it will look like a half-ass job.

Thanks guys, been a while since I read my own thread. Would a USDM 5spd ECU be the correct choice, or a JDM 5spd ECU? Do they both work? I was thinking the JDM ECU was OBDI but not sure. Sorry for my ignorance on this stuff. Still searching for a complete parts list for the Auto=>5spd swap, and the USDM H22=>JDM H22 swap. This is going to be a huge project and I wana get it right. Thanks guys.

You can use the USDM OBD-II ECU without an issue.

Both Keith and I have done this... works fine.

I've also done the 5 speed swap... you'll need to look up the parts list.

I would look into seeing if you can get a 5 speed base model engine harness too... since you'll have everything out.

Thanks Garhard. Did you do the 5spd and engine swap at the same time? Makes total sense to me to do it that way since the engine will be out and the new engine has the 5spd already attached to it. Hard part is going to be finding a knowledgeable shop that I can trust to do the work, but that's my problem. One more question, is the JDM LSD only in certain trannys, or do they all have it? Thanks!

Only certain transmissions have the LSD...

I did my swap prior to the engine swap.

Yes, it's MUCH easier to swap the transmission with the engine not in the car... for several reasons.
