Irritating noise

Im getting a squeaking noise from the front left of my car when i let the car coast to a halt....it is very annoying, it sound like metal is rubbing on metal....now it isnt the little squeaking noise that you get from the brake pads touching the discs, it sound more like a old swing, or a hinge that is rusted...

Im confused because it only happens when i am not pressing the throttle, under throttle there is no noise, no matter how slow i go...

I might have the same problem you do. it is very annoying and doesn't sound like anything major. my roomates civic and his mom's civic does it too. Honda thing maybe?

I realised that when a passenger sits in the car (drivers side in the US) the noise is more regular...god its annoying....

friend told me that it reminds me of the sound you hear when movies portray a ghost town and the hinges of the window shutters squeak....just what i want!

Anyone?

I believe that is the same noise that I am getting. It seems to only do it when I start from a stopped position. It is like a whinning noise. Like something needs to be greased. It started after I lowered my car. If you guys figure out how to fix it please let me know.

if it only started after you lowered your car, check that area for suspension pbms. CHeck the strut mount bushings, maybe they were not flush when everything went back together. Maybe the srping is rubbing the strut perch a little? The best way is to take the car to a shop that has a lift...bounce the car while someone is standing under it and see if spraying the bushings with silicone lube (a little) solves the pbm. then you know what's the cause. Dont soak the bushings though...rubber is not meant to have spray lube on it..

for me it doesn't happen when turning the steering wheel, although my roomate's civic does that. This happens when starting from a stand still and sometimes when going over a certain "type" of bump in the road. The kid who had this car b4 me put Neuspeed springs on and left the stock shocks on so maybe it is a suspension control problem, or they are blown or who knows. The TEINS are coming soon...

Check out my other post here...

Car Noise Thread

Maybe it's this. I only get it when I start from a stop.
