Installed Mugen Headers...

Sorry guys I was unable to book a dyno locally to determine the "REAL" gains from a Mugen system before and after install.

The closest dyno I could find was in Daytona 1.5 hours away and it was more expensive than I was looking for, plus they were booked up till the end of August...

My header was just sitting here on the floor in my living room begging to be put on...So I put it on last night.

I'm still wating on the catback....which'll be here by he end of August. At that time I will dyno, but it's not going to show b4 and after like I was hoping to do. However it'll be just the H/Catback..I have no others mods so we can at least see those results...

By the way the rag i used to wipe every down with had oil on it(I couldn't even see it, it was so little) and it discolored the header a little once it heated up....anyone got any ideas on a cleaner to polish out the discoloration??

I wanted to wait, but these have been sitting around here for almost a month..

It was making me crazy....

I've only driven the car from the shop 3 miles and put it in the garage. Maybe I can still save the color...

Damn I'm a dumbass....lesson learned...even if a shop towel is washed, it has some oil in it...always use a "new" one..

I just called the Harley shop and they have an anti-blueing cream they say will work great...

Anyone tried this ?? Actually they're not that bad....yet...just a little smudge on each bend on the top....

I don't want to make it worse...man am I obsessive or what??

Just leave the header in the plastic bag and handle it that way and when its finally on just take the bag off. it turns goldeny color fast.. u can just start up your engine and watch it change color.
but yea even if you put a finger print on it youll see them later when the oil burns. im not sure how u can get them off tho. my friend touched mine and there is a finger print but i tried to whipe it off while the header was cool but no go. i wonder if like bronze cleaner or stainless steal cleaner like what they use to clean bronze, stainles plates ect ect will work like that bronzo stuff? oh well.

you can use some stainless steel polish. the mugen header will "discolor" like turn a gold color from the heat, but i'm not sure if that's what you're describing. i used some blue magic polish (sounds something like that) and it works great on the mugen header and exhaust can/tip. good luck

my mugen exhaust + mugen headers + iceman intake with dirty filter gave me 178 hp on a 90 degree day. My VAFC is yet to be tuned, but after that, we'll see.

Hmmmm....lemon and salt huh??

I got some "blue job" stuff from the harley dealer 2 nite...

It's a powder. Use a wet "clean" rag, dip the rag in it, then polish the spots. The dark burn in from the oil came out. Now I'm back to just the Mugen goldish bronze with no dark spots...

Ahhh...back to normal...I can quit obsessing for a little while longer...

Thanks for the replies....
