I'm New here with a long story to tell

Hey fellow Luders...i've been reading only the general discussion board until i wanted to get something where i had to register and now i'm addicted to this website. I get a lot of useful infomation. So i'm here to introduce me . welps i'm from Utah i've been in love with the lude since high school thought the 93-96 years were the best until they came out with the new 97+ models thought it was ugly at first then i kept on looking at it and *BAM* it was more beautiful to me then the previous model in my eyes Knew it was the car i was gonna get. I'm 23 and had my lude for 5 years and almost paid off (FINALLY!). okay thats good for now. Anyways i decided to post up a little story that i had to go through with my lude today.
i was racing with some black 4 dr car didn't know what it was cause it was dark. after the race my motor started tapping and my ps belt came off! it was hard turning the wheel i had to wait till morning to fix it. went to auto zone had to buy a tool kit and fixed it and what do ya know i tightened it too tight and the bolt broke off so had to go back in the store to buy another bolt which they had and got it fixed. Now... about the tapping noise coming from the motor had to take it to a mechanic shop So... I took my baby to a mechanic shop on wednesday and here comes the weird story. Found out that it was my valves that were loose so tightend it which costs $90 that was with the head gasket. I was there when he was finished and we were gonna take it for a test drive and all of a sudden the guy couldn't put it in gear!?! i couldn't understand what was going on, because i drove it there fine. i couldn't stay long so had to rush to work and when i got to work gave them a call he said that my master cylinder was leaking. What i don't understand is that i drove it perfectly fine when i got there don't understand why all of a sudden it just wouldn't go in gear. So me trusting the mechanic, told him go ahead and fix it and see ya 2morrow.
Morning came didn't bother to call him thinking it was already done but wasn't. so i sat and watched him work on it. Got the new master cylinder on and started bleeding the fluid. after that he went to start my baby up and still couldn't put it in gear. i was having a heart attack wondering what was wrong. after that What he did was put it in first gear and started and took off. NOW what he told me is that the clutch is gone. I said, so it wasn't the master cylinder then. he goes no that wasn't the problem but it was leaking. i said okay what now. he goes gotta take the tranny off and see if the clutch is gone. that what he said from hearinig it. i knew my clutch was worn out, it has 97k miles on it. i just couldn't understand that it broke especially at the shop. it just stopped working. WTF?!? it wasn't even slipping it was fine. So went on and telling the mechanic...so i put on that master cylinder for no reason. he goes well since it was leaking it needed to be replace. so what he said is that he's not gonna charge labor for putting the master cylinder on and giving me dealer price on that and he's gonna pull the tranny off which he's not gonna charge also. because it broke down at his shop so i have to wait till monday to see whats gonna happen. hopefully it's the clutch not the tranny. ALL i wanted to do was tighten the valves! now i have to spend more money on my baby! (Why do you have to HURT me so much!!!) welps i guess it's do it now or face it later. so i'm not gonna have her with me for the weekend. a sad weekend for me! i hope the AND1 mixtape tour will make me smile. OKAY thats all for now!!! see ya ludas

Hard luck........ Sh*t happens. If it is the clutch, you are getting a good price. Do a search on this though..... I have heard of alot of peoples trannys copping out like this. Did they change the tranny fluid at all?

something like that happened to me.....
honda put in a new shortblock and somehow all of a sudden couldnt put my car into gear, they found out later they had snaped a bolt on the tranny somewhere and it fell into\between the clutch and it wasnt engaging.....so i got a new clutch and some other stuff out of it....

sucks to see your firsts posts are about a problem like that
hope all goes well

my clutch disentigrated at 30000 miles. Shattered all the gears inside too.
The day before, I noticed the tranny was acting weird, took it to honda, they said the car was fine. Next day, car was towed back to the dealership.
Transmission was replaced, so was the clutch. Warranty was then voided across north american honda. Fvck Dave Mungenast St. Louis Honda.

The clutch master cylinders do develop a leak sometimes, I had to replace mine. It's cool that he did the labor for free, because you could have easily installed one yourself (like I did). I've only paid for a clutch install, everything else I do myself because I don't trust mechanics. They won't tell you what they mess up, and then if stuff breaks later they blame it on you anyway! Your clutch was probably still okay, but it never hurts to have a new one. At least you had gotten a fair amount of mileage out of it. I replaced mine at 85,000 and the disk still looked great, but the car drove a lot better afterwards so I didn't waste my money. I'm sure when you get your car back you'll be happy, all of the parts you replaced typically cause problems on the Prelude anyway so don't feel like you wasted your money.

okay mechanic called me today and said that the bolts was loose on the flywheel (stock) i guess thats why it kept on chattering. he said the clutch is still in good condition but he suggest that i should replace it anyway cause a bolt was damaging the disc. i'm gonna go check it out today and i figure what the hell time to change it anyway...so...dude try to rip me off with a stock clutch for 270. i was like the hell with that. so i told him how much he can get an aftermarket one. he called back said 326 i forgot to ask him what brand it was, so i asked him what about an exedy he said it'll be $3 off the 326. i was what whoa! i can get that for 270 on the internet with free shipping. At first he said he couldn't do it for that price then all of a sudden he changed his mind. SO...i'm getting an exedy organic racing clutch kit for 270.00 is that a good price??? i wish i can get a flywheel but i can't afford no more. i'm glad that it's not my tranny thats broken ! *whew*
