Ignition Systems

I'm looking for an ignition system for a nitrous application. Have been looking at the MSD 6A & 6AL. The only difference seems to be the rev-limiter. I don't feel I need that because I plan on picking up the Jacobs Mastermind (or something similar) so I have a window activation type of situation.

Ignitions and there features are fairly new to me, so a FAQ on them or something would be appreciated. I have been searching all day, but there doesn't seem to be too much info on them.

Thanks.

You should look into something with a timing control for a nitrous application. Your best bet would be to call MSD yourself. The number is (800)548-7290

MSD Digital 6 is a good ignition and you have timing control for FI applications..

If you have to choose between the 2, the 6al would be best. For a few bucks, I can make you a staging launch control to use with the 6al. For a big nitrous set-up, I am not sure if we can use the DIS series of MSD ignitions, I believe it is for distributorless ignition systems, MSD would know. There are a few cheap staged timing retard devices, the best way to control timing for nitrous apps IMHO.

Please read my sig. You can use the MSD 6 DIG for any application. Even if you move cars later on it can go with you. It has 2 retards for timing. One you can use as a rev limiter and set at a max, and also a launch rev limiter which is very useful for FI applications... You can also do step retarding according to a set RPM that takes you down one degree which is perfect for NOS.

Any more questions and you can go on the website and read for yourself.

No need to get upset. I mistook the Digital 6 for the DIS 2-4. I'll just shut up now......

I would scratch that idea of the MSD and get the Crane ignition. You can get it for about $230 with coil and built in rev limiter. It comes in three differant colors if you care and from what I've heard from places like King and Realtime racing, they are a lot more reliable, plus the coil is more powerful. The ignition box is tiny and the coil fits in the stock location with the add on of some longer bolts from your local hardware store. I had a 6AL and blaster 2 coil in my civic and to be honest I am a lot more impressed by the crane ignition.
