Ignition key won't turn after theft?

So it appears that someone has jammed a key into this car's ignition lock cylinder. It only turns and starts the car after about 5 minutes of struggling. What are the parts needed to fix this? Ignition lock cylinder, I'm assuming, and is there anything else? I would prefer not to have to get a different key since I don't want to change the locks in the doors too.

Thanks!

you need more than that. do you have problems with original key to start it. cause if you have problems with it and thats your only key. it would cost you more. cause you have to also let your key be recognized by the immobilizer otherwise your car wont start and stall or not start. most likely dealer cause you cant make key without recognizing the smart key for the immobilizer. let me know if you need clarification.

Well from what you said, it does start the car so the key is recognized so that isn't a problem.

The cylinder is messed up as from your description of the problem. The little tumblers that line up when you put the key is sound messed up. Any lock smith should be able to fix the problem. They can rekey it to your current key so you won't need a different one.

Just get the lock cylinder out and take that and a key to a lock smith and let them do the rest.

BTW, Eric Schultz in CA is a known scammer. He did it to me, he can do it to you. Just a heads up. Know as "backinblue92" here on PO.com

Try pushing on the brake while doing it, it might be locking up on you. If that doesn't work, then turn the key to the idle position (turn it towards you as far as possible) and then turn it all the way again. If that doesn't work, then it's locked for some reason, try turning the steering wheel, etc. Then if it really doesn't work, go ahead and replace the lock cylinder .
