My car has the same strange habit. When I start it up, and the engine is warm, sometimes the tach will sweep all the way down @100rpms or so and shudder, then go right back up and remain steady at 700rpms..I'm curious as to why it does this as well?

Mine does the same thing, although not as low..... mine goes down to about 500 rpm before jumping back up to 700-750.....

My two other cars before my Lude did the same thing...... it might be the mods (like i/h/e).... but I don't know......

This is normal, no problems. When the engine is cold, it should sweep up and remain at around 1000 - 1500 RPMs.

If the engine is warm, you will notice the RPMs sweep up to about 1000 - 1500 RPMs and then dip down to about 500-600 and back up to 700 +/- 50 and remain steady.

This is all normal.
