I need help with tire selection

I need to get new tires for my 5th gen soon. I don't know much about tires so I need your guy's help. Here are my criteria:

- tires that will fit my stock base rims
- car is not lowered
- $50-$90/tire
- maintain near stock appearance
- tires that have good value. ie, good handeling and tire wear for dollar value

any suggestions? thanks in advance

all-season tire? summer tire?

Dunlop W-10's are a good all-season value, but they don't handle like the more expense tires oviously. They are $86 per tire on www.discounttiredirect.com .

Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's are $78 (summer) also on discounttiredirect.com
pro's --- very grippy, good price
con's --- not all-season

Whatever brand you choose, consider going one size wider- 215/45 16. The 45 aspect ratio should keep the overall diameter similar (check what the tire specs are) and the stock rims can easily take a 215 since they are 6.5".

What's the difference between all-season and summer tire? I drive mainly in San Diego or the Bay Area (California) where we have pretty non-extreme weather. The most I'll be dealing with is rain.

Does getting a wider spec tire affect gas mileage? noise? significantly?
