Lol, its a luv hate relationship. CEL lights are ghey. Most of the times the fixes arent too hard. I know what ya mean about the o2 sensors. I have now had 4 different codes for essentially the same fn problem, my secondary o2 sensor.

The prelude is a more complicated vehicle and more performance related, its goin to have more issues than an economy civic. Hang in there, its worth it.

I've been wanting to do that for a while too. Now, on my second engine, and this morning, a puff of smoke, and still burning oil, I'm giving serious thought to just selling this thing ASAP. I really hate this car.

I seem to have some kind of magic touch with broken things. It doesn't matter what. Computers, electronics, even cars. Something goes wrong, I open it up, look at it, dust some things off, close it up and it works fine again. I had a cel go off in my car the other day, I looked it up in the book, looked up the location in my Helms, opened the hood, stared at the part for a few minutes, then closed the hood and Voila! no more cel. I've been doing that for years with people's computers. Open the case, touch here, tap there, yada yada yada. No problems afterwards.

Yeah, I'm gonna go look this weekend for another car, how much the dealership will give me on a trade-in, and what my best option is... this car is giving me too many headaches. Hopefully I'll soon be one of those owners that can say it hurt to get rid of the lude, but it hurt more keeping her.

I bought a Prelude over an Eclipse GST because I didn't want to deal with the problems, but I've had my share too.. Autotensioner, primary o2 sensor, rear brake caliper seized, crappy oem clutch, shock knock, leaky clutch master cylinder, and now repeated misfiring. It hasn't cost me that much to fix everything though and it's an easy car to work on. It's still a good car, I figure it will last me beyond 200k once I get this new problem sorted out. I think most of us get the same typical problems, every car has it's share of gremlins.

^^When I had a misfire during smog, I didn't think it would be the plugs because I had just changed the sparkplug wires 6 months ago also. Well, for the hell of it, I changed the wires and got some iridiums. Sold to car and the new owner took it to smog and it passed. I have no clue how 6 month old wires can go bad but they did. It's worth a shot if you need to pass smog, but if it's just misfiring once in a while, I would just ignore it.

Of course, could it be a bent valve that is causing the misfire? That's what the mechanic told me but I doubted that because I had a compression check about 3 months prior and it came back okay.

i ordered some new wires, i swapped the plugs to differnt cyl. and i got the misfire in teh same #1 i'll see when the wires and cap come in if that fixes it. i have a loose plan of moving the injectors around, but i'm not sure if i'm gonna do that. unless the shop i left it at did something to bend a valve, i've shifted at 3k for the last 3 monhts due to other cels and not wanting to beat it while cel was on - and the misfire started the other day.....

face it, after every certain number of miles, every car will give you problems. Plus, you should be grateful you have a nice 5th gen Prelude. There are some people out there with crappy cars or people who dont even have cars. No one told you to mod your car. You did it at your own volition. Dont hate your car, just be grateful your driving a Prelude.

Thats my $.02.

i wouldn't mind it as much if
1. i had a job (been laid off for like 4 months )
2. if i could go for more than 4 days without a new cel.

From the day i bought this car there have been issues.
cel came on about a month after i first got it, and has been on/off since

i'll see if the post office will ship my car to you

I also didn't mod my car. The most it had was an intake and an axleback exhaust. These two combos should not throw a CEL. Anyways... I got more girls in My Toyota Corolla DX then the prelude ever. I hate you PRELUDE!

If my lude didn't burn a quart of oil every 1000 miles, I'd keep it til it fell apart. But that's the only complaint I have.

I miss my Prelude, although mine burnt more than 2 quarts of oil every 3000 miles.

That was me until this past Friday... now down to 1 5th gen, but now slightly less broke...

Having 2 5th Gen's is fun... until you realize they both have non-commuter friendly gas mileage [at least compared to a Civic or something]

Though my next 2nd car will be a Civic or something to commute in...
