I hate headlight condensation...

I can't get rid of the condensation in my passenger headlight and it's slowly driving my crazy. I've had my headlights in and out about 5 times now resealing them and putting silicone all around the edges. Unfortunately this has all been a waste of time.

The headlights were retrofitted with TSX projectors and whoever did it didn't use the rubber grommets. The driver side is condensation free so I don't think not having the grommets is the issue. Both the high beam grommets seem to be in good shape.

Ive been reading on others forums about people drilling a small 1/8"ish hole at the very bottom of the housing for better ventilation. Has anyone tried this before? I'm going to take them out and try to reseal them one more time, but if that doesn't I'm seriously contemplating pulling out the drill.

Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

ok man chill out, take them out, pull them apart. clean teh inside out very well then take a blow dryer(notheat gun cuz its too hot) and heat both parts up. placfe them together and hold the blow dryer to them for a couple of minutes. then open them up a small amount to let the hot air out. then close them and seal them. The heat should have made a vacuum, leaving no air or moisture in the housing. the only thing i could see is taht you do no thave them fully sealed and moist air is getting in there.

good luck

What bouckaroo said. & I suggest using a new clean microfibre too when wipping inside and cleaning and using a good solvent. I reccomend checking the seals again too. Maybe even putting in new ones or bigger ones to seal it better. Don't drill anything yet I think sometimes they cause more problems but it's a great idea though it will let out more heat too hmmmm

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I took my headlight out and found I had enough water trapped inside to fill a small child size swimming pool. I rolled the water all around the edges and everything was sealed tight. I rolled it to the back where the projector was mounted and water just poured out. Turns out I had a little hole back there.

Hopefully this is the last time ill be pulling my headlight out. I like your suggestions on cleaning and resealing. If im ever motivated to open the headlights up for a cleaning ill have to give them a try.

I got the same probleme of you few year ago and i drill 3 smalls holes. That work great but i dont suggest you this because whene the temperature is very humid, the condensation enter and the problem pesist.

That makes sense. I think I'm going to forget the drilling idea. Hopefully I fixed the problem already.

Thanks

if you are going to drill, then drill a smallk hole, use a blowedryer to heat up the housing to evaporate the water, then before the light housing can cool completly put clear silicone on the hole and allow to cool and dry. this way of you need to again claer any condensation you can just pull the silicon out and redo it to seal it back up.

condensation can enter when the bulbs are put into the light, it may not alwasy be a leak in the sealing job or a hole......use your head....

drilling should be the last resort....i
