I/H/E worth it?

I know this is a newbie type question but here goes. On average, how much will cold air intake, headers, and cat back exhaust reduce your 1/4 mile and generally increase acceleration? I'm looking at a power package right now on modacar.com with AEM CAI, DC stainless or ceramic headers, and greddy evo cat back exhaust. I'm just trying to justify spending the money on it. I know these are the basic building blocks for any mods...but it's likely that these in addition to pulleys will be my only mods..

If I were to say, run along side a stock Prelude with my car equipped with the said mods (I/H/E) in addition to the AEM tru power pulleys, how far ahead would that actually put me? A car? Car and a half? I'm not talking about off the line, because obviouslly that's entirely skill dependant.

Once again I know these might sound like dumb questions but I'm honestly trying to justify the purchase.

thanks

I see what u mean man...I have purchased the AEM intake..and that is definetly worth the money..the sound alone is just amazing! I have heard mixed reviews about the DC headers...how the stock headers are just as good...it may get u 2-4 WHP...I personally dont like a loud exhaust..and for another $400-$500 it doesnt give u that much more whp!!! Im still trying to find a good reason to spend $800 for another 8-12 whp...correct me if im wrong..im not 100% sure on the hp gains but its around that!! Someone here give me a good reason to spend the money on the these mods?!?

It won't help your car out a lot but if you want to be a bit faster and you have the money then I say it's worth it.

Add those with a vafc, and you should be in the mid 14's 1/4th

That's a bunch of BS though. I/H/E/Pulleys on my setup got me down to to mid/low 14's without a problem. I run on 17 inch rims and street rubber and I managed to pull decent times. The I/E on preludes is definitely worth it - the header is always an iffy question, I guess it depends on what brand you get. As for the pulleys - I say its the best mod I ever did. My next thing is probably getting the V-AFC although I don't know any places that know how to tune it correctly. Regarding everythign else - do some suspension work and on a prelude that really shows because our cars are dumb wide and with a little drop, some low profiles and maybe a camber kit the ludes handle like crazy. I don't even have any upper or lower bars and my car handles like a dream. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think that I/H/E are worth it. If you want to go FASTER, you need to look into Force Induction. If you are looking to fast for cheap, then nitrous is the best way -- always has been. But if you are looking to go fast I/H/E isn't the best way.

Intake sounds nice, but don't expect much from it. I plan to replace the exhaust when the stock goes to hell. I just can't justify spending $400-500 on minimal gains.

Best bang for the buck with the Prelude, I feel, is the suspension. Now that I have that done, I purchased a NOS Dry Kit. When I purchase H/E hopefully I will feel a bigger gain (becasue of NOS). Personally, pullies are next on my list.

All and all, I/H/E aren't going to add as much as they do to other cars because the Prelude is tuned superior to other cars stock. You aren't going to see the gains that mustangs and cameros get from I/H/E.
