I bought a prelude with clutch problem plz help

Hey i just bought a 2000 base with 160,000 miles. I noticed it was a little rough going through the gears today and when i got of the highway at the first stop my clutch wasnt working at all. There was still pressure in the pedal and the fluid was full, But it wouldn't go into gear at all. Had to jam it in first to get out of the way. It started working a little better but still not right. When i am at an idle and shift through the gears there is a loud noise. It isnt completely grinding but it is not smooth either. Any way any help would be great i am really ticked because i paid alot for it becuase it was at a honda dealership and was a carfax one owner completely stock. So i figured it was a safe buy

man if iot is completely stock and it has 160000 on it then it is due for a new clutch, dont woryy, clutches are cheap and are worth the money. be happy it has only had one owner and is in good shape. get the clutch then give the car a good one over and be happy.

I talked to a few of my friends and since there is still clutch pressure i dont think it is the master cylinder but could it be the slave cylinder and what would be the signs of a bad slave and what would be the signs of needing a new clutch all together?

A bad slave cylinder you will typically see brake fluid all over the ground right under the transmission, also you will have no pressure at all in the line. Thats about all i've seen with bad slave cylinders, and i've replaced them on several honda's before.

^^Exactly.

OP--You need to listen to bouk and what he said. As did he when he posted, we can rule out a few things because you still feel pressure in the system.

-Master and slave cyliners
-Breaks in the line cause some type of loss of fluid
-pressure-plate going bad
-clutch pedal needs adjustment

There is a good chance that your clutch disk simply needs replaced. Even though it is hard/expensive(depending on if you pay to have it done or do it yourself), it should probably be your next step.

Good luck.

You bought it from the dealership. Take it back and have them fix it. You should have a warranty.
