hytech replica tri-y header, exhaust & AEM CAI install
well after 8 weeks of owning my 98 prelude SH i have installed the hytech replica tri-y header, 2 1/2 inch piping hiflow cat magnaflow, dynomax resonator, and stainless steel magnaflow muffler and an AEM polished CAI.
All parts and labor comes around to 800 bucks, did dyno it stock and pulled a 164 whp after all the boltons 182 whp so thats a total of 18 whp i really did not expect that much, i was hoping for atleast 10 to be honest so i was very pleased the best investment was for sure the hytech replica header 10+ whp
for a cheap price was well worth it.

164 whp stock? interesting, seems to be a tad higher than usual?
i was thinking the same the first two run were 161 and we let it cool down some and then it jumped 3, the guy that dynoed my car has done many preludes he said mine was average he seen some as high as 170 whp, yes i asked him if it was the type s he said no. So i don't know.

Did you end up having to cut your cross member? also i have been really annoyed with exhaust system setups, in terms of what people say is better. People say get a 2.5" SS from kteller but thats 2.5" OD correct? if so why get a 2.5" exhaust over a 60mm aftermarket cat back? so my biggest question is, are 2.5" kits the same as 60mm aftermarket cat backs ?

yes i did have to trim 1/4 inch by 1/2 long, but there is a way not to cut it you need two people to install it for more power lol and am not sure about your other ?
i have a custom 2 1/2 inch piping

Well 60mm = 2.36inches so with a 2.5" set up you will have more volume for exhaust to travel, as far as which is better, depends on your goals,.. N/A or Turbo - after quite a bit of post reading, before i did my set up, it was advised that 3" exhaust was ideal for turbo builds and 2.5" for naturally aspirated. Of course to get the most of the exhaust piping diameter then you would need to at the very least upgrade the headers all the way back to the muffler.

True, but i have a kteller 2.5" exhaust piping kit and its 2.5" OD and about 60mm ID. So that being when someone talking about custom 2.5" piping is that OD or ID. Also does that mean aftermarket catbacks 60mm diameters are ID or OD?
Could you post a pic of how/where you cut the crossmember? i've been reading bout the hytech replica and wanting to do one, just want to know how to cut the crossmember when i need to do it. I'll probably be doing it myself at my friends garage (he's a lift, piping, welder, etc stuff i need to do it) Try-y with 2.5" piping, magnaflow cat, and resonator, sounds like a good setup.

Just look at all the pretty pictures. (I also edited my first post in this thread to include his dynos)
