Hydrolock

Ok... Ive had my 99 Prelude for about a year now. I recently moved to Clearwater, FL & replaced my stock hood with a VIS G-Force carbon fiber hood. (with the active hood scoop).

I was driving in some heavy rain today and my car started to stall when I was taking off in low RPM ranges. Is this an early sign of hydrolock or what? The open hood scoop is positioned directly above the head on the motor. I'm not sure if its pulling water into the actual block or just dampening my distributor.

Any suggestions / insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
Tony

Water under the hood is never a good thing. Plus, there is no benefit if the scoop isn't directly tied in w/ your air intake.

First thing I would check is if water is seeping down past the spark plug cover and into the plugs. Another thing to check is if your distributor cap is getting wet. Are you running a full CAI? With Florida weather you should probably switch so a short CAI.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions. Another question though... I'm in the process of fabricating something to incorporate the hood scoop directly into my intake. Is there anything I can do to block water from entering the air filter?

Thanks Again!!
