How to seat the rings on H22a???

Hey Guys,

I just finished rebuilding my JDM h22a. It has new

-ACL race bearings
-Type S Pistons
-TOP seal gapless 2nd rings

I was asking people around here about honing/flexhoning the block. Some say to do,some say it's a no no.... O Well anyways this ? is about the proper way to seal piston rings on first initial startup.

This guy at work is rec. me doing a dry startup. No Oil on rings and on cylinder. Start it up dry, rev it to 5k rpms for 60 seconds, and that's it. He did that with his race cars and said that works for him..

But i'm not really sure about that.. What's the best way??

dude thier is so many ways to break in a motor and everyone says thier method is the best and always works. you can do it from very mild break-ins to super agressive like ur buddys way

Edit: this thread has a couple different ways to do it

LOL someone actually told you not to hone the block?

You are screwed with the gapless rings. Guaranteed you will have compression issues. Never seen a Honda build run them successfully.

Why would I have compression issues. They actually have more compression. If you install them properly and get a good seat on the rings you will have higher compression than with factory rings....
