The one further to the right in the pic is your powersteering line. It really isn't attached to you valve cover. And for the other piece, thats just your power line from your altenator. You can remove that piece from the valve cover. You have to cause there is a bolt or two under there holding the valve cover down.
Yes I did mine by myself. I'm outside right now and the only thing I cannot remove is the f*cking power line of alternator, I've unbolt one but i'm still cannot remove this piece...
Yeah looks really nice man.
I'm about to start this same project! I've purchased a used valve cover and I'm hoping to refinish it the same as you have here.
Can I ask, What materials did you use to paint it? Wrinkle + something else? What all did you mask off and what did you use to mask it? I.E. akle grease? Tape etc?
I found and ordered some red VHT wrinkle will 2 cans be enough?
I assume anything with threads needs to be protected from the paint, anything else I should watch out for?
Thanks for the info! I'll post some pics when I get it all done.
quick question... when tightening it down... how tight? I dont need a torque bar (?) do I? I forget if thats the name of the tool... but the one with the torque selector on the end...20lbs etc.

A torque wrench at 12lbs but you don't need that...Just tight it first with you're finger without pressure, and tight it again with you're tool with the same pressure everywhere.
The torque spec for it is actually 8lbs. Make sure when your putting it back on that you spread the rtv sealant evenly and follow the tightening sequence in the helms. Its important that you do or else you'll begin to leak oil into the spark plug chambers and out of other places on the valve cover.
