How often should spark plug wires be changed?

Is there a general rule of thumb on how often these should be changed? I'm doing the cap and rotor next week. I'm wondering if I should change the wires too.

thanks

I thought aftermarket was a little more expensive than that. I wouldn't mind just getting some stock ones if I needed them. I'll test them with a multimeter but I was wondering if there was an unofficial interval.

Replacement...

You only need to replace them when you start seeing high levels of impedance when testing with an ohm meter.

Magnecor makes some pretty decent wires.

Check the service manual...

The wires should test with a voltmeter at no more than 26 Kohms.

Also, they should have no obvious cracking of the insultator....

Unless you see anything visibly wrong or any sparks jumping a new set won't do much. I replaced wires on my old motor at 85K with NGK ones and noticed no difference.

If you stll like new wires get NGK for best fit, splash of color, and fair price. Magnecore are good, too expensive to justify unless you want red wires.

Accordsleeper:

Actually, you can get Magnecor wires online for about $50.00. That's not to bad at all...

They're a little better than the stock wires.

Honda ignition wires are suppose to last 100k mikes. I would get NGK or Honda(if not made by NGK) wires unless you're force induced.

I changed them after 60K, along with everything else, and there was no difference. that I could detect. However, the plugs, which Honda claims are supposed to last 105,000 miles were toast at 69K! Meaning they had the classic symtoms(looks) of a plug that had been left in the engine too long. But, still, I noticed no difference.
