I'm guessing this is because of a somewhat large audio system? I've never heard of high-output alternators robbing power from the motor.

Yes, I have a audio system, I wouldnt call it large, but its sufficient. My headlights dim when i take my foot off the accelerator, and i have to get a jump every week or so. i bought 2 batteries already so i am going with a bigger alternator!

If you don't have a large system, there's really no reason for this. Are you sure the alternator isn't bad? Have you checked all connections? I had a similar situation and thought it was my alternator. However, it turned out to be the terminal socket.
