I am also intersted in the Greddy header as well. I have searched and haven't found very good specific info. I emailed the Import Tuner technical questions guy to see if I can get some more info since they did this to a fifth gen in their most recent issue. If I get a response I will try and post the information.

If anyone has this done or has any good info on this or knows where we can find it I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I remember that Andrewdevard *( I can't remember his name) had a Tanabe header on his car. Tanabe only claims to have a 4Gen VTEC header, soooo, it seems like its possible a SH (he had a Type S) could use a 4th Gen header with no modification. I haven't tried this so I have no idea. However you could use a SH header if you modified the exhaust so that may be the way to use a 4th Gen VTEC header such a Greddy one our 5th Gen.

Someone with a SH try it and let me know how it goes.

Dragazn, do you have an SH or base? I have a base and I thought I read in one of the posts that the header needed to be extended rather than shortened.

What is the difference between the exhausts of the SH and base. Where is it shorter or longer?

I think the only problem I can see is lenght. It should bolt to the oil pan bracket the sameway, but possible the hanger that attaches undernearth may not hook-up. That's not a problem anyway since mine is not hooked up. I personally would rather not chop the header though, instead I would cut the exhuast and move everything back like you for H22 Accord swaps.

So does anyone know for sure whether the header is too long or too short for the base. Ive got a Mugen exhaust though so I probably dont want to modify the exhaust. Is there anyway to modify the cat? Are some of the high flow cats different lengths?

Isn't Mugen just a muffler? Lude cats are pretty small, at least smaller than an accord cat. I got a carsound cat, one that is small and designed for imports/sport compacts which should make for less cutting. Honestly, are you guys doing this work yourself or having a shop do it? A good custom exhuast shop will do it, no problem, so don't worry. It's just cutting and welding, it's not like it's rocket science here.

I wouldn't do the work myself, I am just trying to get as much info as possible so I know what I would be getting myself into. If I was able to find out how much shorter or longer the header is I might be able to compensate with a high flow cat that was shorter or longer as needed. Thanks for the replies though.

if you got a mugen exhaust, why not get the mugen header to go with it? the setup might work alot better together than the greddy, but i have yet to see numbers for it.

Supposedly the Mugen is the best 5th gen header, of course you can buy 2 Greddy headers for the price of Mugen and still have money left for a high flow cat.

So what is the REAL fact about modifing this header? I have seen a bunch of different conflicting threads......anyone have some factual info to add here? Pics would be good to.

I just want to know what i am getting into. Considering DC's crappines and 2" collector, I am surprized allot of 5th gen owners have not done this. hmm...

Greddy is making a header for the 5th gen prelude. Just wait for it to come out.

Not to be an ass, but this has been answered about a bajillion times on this board. Search is your friend.

Just because I am in a charitable mood, just read my thread on the Fuj header here: Fujitsubo header is on! .

All 4th gen headers need to be modified the same way to fit the 5th gen. The mods I had for the Fuj will be the same for you.

BTW, most people don't realize that the Mugen header is only made for the 4th gen as well. King Motorsports custom modifies this header themselves when they sell it to 5th gen customers. That is partially the reason why it is so expensive.

In my orignal post, I mentioned that I did search, do search and always search before I post Q's on topic's. I have seen conflicting threads. I have also been all up in yours and Joons thread like a druken prom date.

I am thinking about getting this fuj instead. I have just been tring to get some specs, pricing and modifications to both to fit the 5th gen. I know joon did not modify his at all and you got a slightly different header. I will certainly have enough mods this spring to unleash good power from the fuj.

I was aware about the modification on the mugen that is needed. Thanks for the info though.
