I end up filling about 45litres. this means that the light turns on when I still (technically) have a quarter (25%) tank left.

so for you.. If everytime you get 260miles before the light turns on... I'd say its a safe bet that you can still milk about 87miles AFTER the light turns on before you go completely dry. and even then you might be able to run a few miles on vapour

I've noticed the same thing with mine. Always seems to be 12-15 litres left in the tank once the needle is on E. I'm trying to figure it out for highway driving to the interior so I won't have to fill up earlier then I have to.

Depends on what you call regular--regular for me is 40% highway miles @ 60mph. The rest is stop & go, but not much idling. I was getting 330-340, then I figured out that our mileage decreases over 65 mph.

WARNING

The light comes on when it does for a very IMPORTANT and simple reason.
The fuel pump lives in what-gasoline-why to keep it cool. Get it-the pump needs to be submerged. The way they are positioned requires that you not run the tank dry. It is also a bear to restart a car that is sitting on fumes. Another point here is that the filter sleeve in the tank can become clogged.

Just a little warning-there is no reason to let your tank drain that low unless you are doing an economy run. The calculation of mileage is simple. Go to the exact same pump each time and fill it up. Set the trip meter to zero-drive 250 miles-refill at the same pump and then calculate your mileage.
Happy Luding everyone
