If you don't use the Triptronic feature at all it will last a long time. If however, you feel the need to pretend your a race car driver and go around downshifting and upshifting like ricky bobby..your tranny will blow soon.

I have an SS with 97K and I have had no problems. I did post awhile back about possible SS tranny issues, but it ended up being something else. I RARELY use the triptronic feature.

I had an SS auto and the original transmission lasted 11 years and 125,000 miles. Even though they are crappy, they'll last a long time if you get a brand new one. Agreed, dont bang through the gears with SportShift and itll last longer.

5th gen autos are ticking time bombs. Transmission can go at any time, new or old, doesn't matter. I know people that lost their trans at 40k and some that lost it at 125k. It all depends how much your trans love ya lol.

Stay away from 5th gen automatics. There are hundreds of threads where people say the same thing.

Back some time ago there was a member on a site that replaced his every 30K and was rather nice to it.

If you must get one, add a larger tranny oil cooler and do drain and fills regularly. But as others have stated bith in this thread and your other thread, they are a ticking time bomb.

Personally if you must go automatic, I would look to a different car sorry to say.

BTW, Eric Schultz in CA is a known scammer. He did it to me, he can do it to you. Just a heads up. Know as "backinblue92" here on PO.com

My opinion: Slap your mother. It's your car, not hers (unless mommy is buying it for you, pathetic).

H4L summed it up nicely. If it must be a Sissy-Stick, get a different vehicle.

Note: Sorry for the delay. I've been busy with that whole college thing.
