Don't have a dealer put in a Honda alarm, it is a very easy install, comes with great instructions

A hood pin is just like the switch that turns your dome light on when you open your door, only it triggers your alarm. This prevents someone from prying your hood open and stealing parts from your engine bay without the alarm going off

A couple of months to a year of protection for a part that costs less than $5 sound good to me!

Actually the hood switch for the honda alarm is a lever style, not the typical hood pin---I believe it'll last the long haul

It does the same thing as the trunk and door sensors. When either of the doors are opened (or trunk) while the alarm is set, the alarm will trip. It works in the same way as the door and trunk sensors.
Do you really need it? Do you really need to change the oil in your car?

to get to your hood release they have to go inside your car which
should set your alarm off anyway
