How do u check engine light??/

Here's the thing, this will be kinda short, but it all leads to a series or problems.

Is there anyone out there online right now that can help me walk through or guide me through about checking the engine light in my lude, it came on yesterday, and i wanna check what's wrong with it, well one thing for sure it's got or having tranny probs, but that's why i wanna check the engine light code.

i heard u can use a paper clip, is that still okay, and how would i go about doing it.

any help would be nice.

I just got my 'lude used about 2 mo. ago, and it didn't come with the manual. What's the severity of the green "Maintenence Required" light coming on? Does that just mean it needs oil, or could it be something more serious?

dude.. thats a thing that just helps you know when you need an oil change. you can push that button in with your key to make it green. it should be green btw.

So you don't even need the oil change until it changes to something else (orange or red, I presume)? I just changed the oil like 2200 mi ago.

yeha yr fine
the green light, thing, just let's u know it's fine, but like B0b said, it's basically a reminder when it changes to orange or red, reminder to change oil and so.

it changes to red after 7500 miles, i dont think its an oil reminder, unless your grandma's driving it

well, a reasonable oil reminder anyway.......
mostly probably just a reason for honda to ask you to bring your car in so they can stick your key in the slot for it and charge you 60 bucks.......
