how to change the color of door panel?

hey guys, after getting two-tone color leather seats, i want to change the color of door panel. i dont know if you guys remember the steveV's ride, i want to change the center part of the door panel and the arm rest part to grey.

here's the pic of slknv's interior. i want to change the part that he changed it to grey.

do i have to replace with grey leather, or can i just dye the part that i want to change??

thanx guys..

First you have to take the door panel/lining off of the door. Then there are these metal clips that you bend apart and that piece will come off.

Here's mine:

I just glued the white part over the black part with this 3M yellow sticky spray glue from Home Depot. To get the edges to be smooth, I blow dryed the fabric to make it easier to work with.

I used white vinyl but I think I'm gonna redo it with leather instead. To re-cover the whole door is a PITA. You literally have to break the door in half. No, I wouldn't paint it.

hey lisa, how did you get the center section of the door?
if i remember right, isn't the door one whole piece?

i know you can remove the arm rest part by bending the metal clips back, but what about the center section? thanks.

Yes, the door is one piece. I had to break it in half. I have some pics somewhere that Ill try to find. There are these black screw/clips that look like they were melted in the plastic to hold the top piece and the bottom piece together. I used a utility knife thingie and cut off the plastic on every single one.
