how bad will the tires rub with my drop? - Honda Prelude Forum

ok, i went to the shop yesterday and i am about to put springs and struts on to lower the car. they should lower my car 1.5-2 inches all the way around, but i think it will be something like 1.5. when i talked to the guy that usually works on my car and the one that will be doing them, he garuanteed me that the tires would eat up my fenders. i have 17 x 7 inch rims and nitto 205/40ZR17 tires. is he just saying that or do u think they will rub? if they do rub, how bad, i just dont want to harm my car in the long run. also, do i absolutely need a camber kit for my drop, i am not sure if i HAVE TO have one or not?

what is the offset on your rims. if your over 42mm u should be fine there is alot of people dropped H&R sport 1.4 or a little more that and have no problems

i have a 1.7 drop in teh back and a 2 in teh front. And i rub in the back when i corner hard with 17 225x50 but that is only wheni corner really hard.

yeah... what is your offset? if 42mm.. it'll be okay.. that's the setup I had and no rubbing. slight camber but tires still lasted at least 20k miles.

how do i find out my offset? i didn't put the wheels on.

It should say on them, or just talk to the people you bought them from.

You should have a camber kit on anything over 1.2" drop

As far as rubbing goes, it depends on your offset of the wheels
