Honda Recals 1.3 Million 97-00

Hey 5th gens, 4th gen owner passing on the news:

TORRANCE, Calif. -- Honda Motor Co. is recalling 1.3 million Honda and Acura vehicles to replace an ignition switch that can cause the vehicle to stall.

The company is recalling certain 1997 to 2000 models of the Honda Accord, Civic and Prelude cars, the CR-V sport-utility vehicle and the Odyssey minivan. It's also recalling some 1999 Acura TL sedans and certain 1997 to 1999 CL coupes, spokesman Mike Spencer said.

I'm guessing this means '01 ludes are alright. . . The article doesn't give any specifics as to exactly which vehicles are involved.
"The company is recalling certain 1997 to 2000 models of the Honda Accord, Civic and Prelude cars, the CR-V sport-utility vehicle and the Odyssey minivan. "

Not very definitive. I'm guessing those effected will be receiving somethign in the mail?

You guys should go on honda.com and register for their "owner link".. put in ur VIN, and they'll tell u more about the recall... basically it has only affected less than 3/10ths of the ppl so far.. and you'll notice the problem if you have trouble starting the car sometimes. Basically they have to manufacture the parts first, and then they'll contact you with a letter sometime between june and september 2002.

i didn't take mine in(i did it myself), but they replace the Ignition Switch. it's this blue, white, and clear plastic peice with what looks like a little gear driven switch(hence the name). it's goen in the steering column right behind the actual part where you put your key. It only took me 30 mins to do mine(didn't help that is was 2am), so i don't see it taking the dealer any longer than like...3 hours.

Mine did this too, it was a loose/dirty connection from one of the relays under the dash in my case. I doubt it has anything to do with the recall though.
