Honda MTF Fluid For LSD S Spec

Hi guys,

I have been to honda and have spoken if there is any diffrent sort of MTF oil for the LSD version of the 5th gen lude. They said to me it just uses the same oil as all manual hondas do. Is this true? Ive searched for information but theres absolutely nothing. Reason why im not listning is because I took my car a while back to get my fluid in the gearbox flushed a while back and I remember they said something about some special lsd fluid for my car because it has an lsd

Pretty sure all the Honda Trannys take Honda MTF basicly 10W30, I have heard of people using GM Syncromesh.

Honda MTF is not the same as 10W30 and I would not take it back to a dealership that wanted to put 10W30 in the manual transmission housing.

Also, it's not GM syncrotec, it's Synchromesh. And from other people's accounts on here, the Synchromesh is superior to MTF with no negative consequenses.

Also, the LSD Gear oil is for the LSD, which is encased in its own fluid, so changing out the MTF would not affect the oil in the LSD.

If I remember right though, the type of LSD oil in the H22 tranny only lasts 100,000 miles before it needs replaced, because it is a viscous LSD, as opposed to Helical or Mechanical. This may not be accurate, but it's what I remember reading back in the day...

When I said basically I mean basically. I.E. your right 10W30 is not the same BUT can be used as an temporary alternative that would need to be changed frequently. many people I know have used it, including my self in "cold" weather locations.

I have also used GM synchromesh as well. Some people have had success and other have not. I did not have success with it in cold weather.

I would stick with Honda MTF for the tranny...

sorry bro,
I dont have alot of experance with honda specific LSDs, Look into a different model honda/acura that came with an LSD in you country. This might lead you to the right stuff as Honda almost always uses the same stuff in all there cars
I.E honda MTF is what honda uses in all the standard trannys, if the honda diff takes oil that is seperate from the tranny oil. If its not, it should use Honda MTF....
