Honda Dealer Broke Bolt durning Wheel Alignment

They said they broke the "accentuating" bolt while doing my wheel alignment. Never heard of that bolt before. Did the service rep get it wrong or is that a name of a real bolt? Maybe he meant adjusting bolt, but when he called I asked him did they break the adjusting bolt and he checked and said it was the accentuating bolt.

thanks for the help.

Nick

Yeah, they're fixing it tomorrow. I brought it in last week, they did the alignment for a base and I have an SH, which is not a big deal, but because of it they didn't set the ATTS and my car pulls to the right, so I brought it back and now they broke a bolt, which if that's the truth--no big deal, but I guess I don't totally trust them now.

They broke it - it's under their warranty to fix. Taking it to another shop would void that.

At least you had it done at a dealership and not some shady shop in an alley way.

So bring it in and it "should" go smoothly.

I am pretty sure the the "accentuating" bolt they broke is in one of the rear toe arms (to set rear toe). The bolt get seized over time, and you have to replace the bolt, nut and toe arm.

The cam bolt is #24
the cam washer is #25
the nut is #45
the rear toe arm is #19

Yeah you're right, it was the adjusting bolt. The service guys at the dealership don't know what they are talking about a lot of the time. Too bad we couldn't cut out the middle man and just talk directly to the techs. Also it looked like it was frozen just like you said. Broke off right above the nut. Good call!

It's actually a shame. The dealership charges the MOST for anything and you would think the least they can do is hire the best and most knowledgeable crew.

Makes no sense that these chumps are working there.

I had to replace both of mine two months ago. It was a real ***** getting the old bolts off. I had to use a saw to cut off the bolt on both sides of the toe arm.
