The filter itself is great, the best combo would be to replace the K&N with HKS on the iceman/aem.

I remember reading from somewhere that you *HAVE* to replace the HKS filter element if it gets dirty. The reason you cant just clean the filter is cause its made of foam not paper like other filters. So cleaning it and re-oiling it with like a K&N filter-cleaner kit will break down the foam element.

I think that I saw it on HKS' website.

YES - HKS elements are not washable. But if you buy HKS.. you can afford to change.... I think it is not so ex.

Yeah cuz only HKS can get away with selling a piece of green mushroom foam to people.......

BTW, is there any difference between this one and the K&N one that comes with the AEMs?

I think they come in many color now....but still...

I used to like the HKS when I had my 99 rx7-turbo. It felt good... can't tell you if it is better thant K&N but many people are of the opinion that foam is better..... but not washable for K&N.

If you are interested - ITG makes a good filter.

HKS = foam filter
K&N = oil covered paper filter

as for performance differences, I have no idea.

EDIT: one ting that does come to mind is this. you can only use the foam filter for short rams. how well would the foam hold up in those under-hood temperatures? I'm sure the designers made it out of high-temp foam or something... but if not.

and If you do decide to stick it on the end of an AEM CAI, It would just get dirty and have to be replaced instead of cleaned and re-used. Thats if it can even be attached to an AEM CAI pipe.
