CAR:1999 TYPE SH PRELUDE purchased new with 300 miles on it
PRESENT MILEAGE:142008
REPAIRS MADE SINCE PURCHASE:
1:POWER STEERING PUMP
2:STARTER
3:CAR LOCKING ACTUATOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE
4:FULL REPLACEMENT OF MANUAL TRANSMISSION BEARINGS.(THAT HURT!)
5:Front and side engine mount
6:Passenger headliner clip rattle(repaired under warranty)
7:Replace headlight that was broken at the attachment point(repaired under warranty)
8:Secure a loose ground wire in the dash board that caused intermittent operation of the AC unit(repaired under warranty)
9:Replace broken gas cap that had a broken clicker and would not secure
10:Replace the low break fluid sensor that is in the break fluid reservoir cap due to interment operation.
11:Replace throttle cable

The engine burns nearly the same amount of oil as was when I bought it by not abusing or modifying the engine in in a inappropriate way and doing the following detailed below.

1:Followed proper engine break in rules during the 1st 7500 miles
2:Gave the engine above average maintenance including personally replacing the oil every 3500 miles.
3:Never rev the engine past 7k unless their was a reason to do so like when delay of a shift until exiting a conner.
4:Going very easy on the engine and not revving it past 4k until the engine has reached its normal operating temperature.

Video of present exhaust showing absolutely no smoke at 140k miles:

'99 SH, bought it new. got 170,000 on the clock now. I've done normal maintenance and the car has been great. I've really only had two problems

- car got harder and harder to start, until it just wouldn't start. It was the ignitor. It still stumbles sometimes

- the damn OIL. I'm going through 4 quarts about every 3-4 weeks now

just rolled 190k on my 98 base, bought in 2006 with 72k on it, one-owner car and had been garaged...

have done all of the standard maintence, replaced pads (Performance Friction Carbon in front, some sort of standard pad on one rear wheel due to siezed caliper), Raybestos rotors, cap, wires (Taylor), NGK v-power plugs, cleaned out EGR ports in intake, timing belt, balance belt, water pump, tensioner, valve cover gaskets, installed aluminum cam seal, rebuilt the trans twice, pcv valve replaced, installed air-to-air trans-cooler in-line with stock cooler, replaced tires twice in 118k (Kumho Ecsta ASX and now Aurora K07), replaced one bent rim - the rest are still mildly bent, have had alignment done, replaced misc. bulbs and interior plastic parts due to wear and tear. Had balance shaft seal replaced, oil filter adapter o-ring replaced, oil pan resealed, O2 sim installed, cat gutted, front lower ball joints replaced. Also did fuel filter twice i think. Replaced the battery with Wal-Mart brand (original Panasonic lasted for 6 years!).

Other items left to deal with:
- shocks are starting to go
- address shock-knock with new shocks
- rims are bent, maybe replace and have bend again thanks to NJ roads
- oil leaks, never seem to go away long enough
- exterior door window sill plates' black coating blistering off
- water in trunk (moon roof drains, trunk weatherstrip and/or tail light seals) idk yet =\
- valve adjustment
- drain-refill trans 3.1qts
- wash and wax

burns oil like everyone else and have run a few quarts low a few times

Otherwise, the car runs fine and gets me to and from work no problem

Well, since we're bringing this up for the hell of it...

I have a little over 146k atm, and I just spun a rod bearing, so there's that.

B/C it got restarted, I have a 1997 Prelude with 180,320 miles on it now. It has been burning oil since I've owned it (don't really want to find out an exact amount) and now I've been told it shoots black smoke everytime it first hits vtec. Otherwise had the crank seal replaced because it broke and have the rattles and squeaks that come with a 13 year old car that's lived in Wisconsin all its life.
