Just my experience-CATCO. They are reasonably priced and sold by many places including Meineke. Many people seem to be satisfied with the Random Tech unit. We are using one on the CRX and if need be will do it on the Prelude, which has NO internal mods.
Keep in mind that the O2 sensor bung must be on the outlet end to avoid a CEL.

random tech is overall best in my opinion.
1. passes cali smog
2. has flanges so it bolts right up...no welding.
3. you notice the difference right away.

And get the parts from Nat, she hooks it up
P.S. I'm calling you on monday, I want those parts and ill pay extra for the shipping
The issues that I have with the random tech is that...
1. It's expensive!
2. It doens't pass CARB approval (no aftermarket one does though Car-sound does claim that it does http://car-sound.com/universal/430.htm)
3. It's more restrictive than the Carsounds.
But yes, it's nice not to have to get your own flanges. But it pays off as the Random one is 1.8" ID I believe. Carsound while you do need to supply your own flanges you can get any ID you want in .25" increments.
I'm sorry, I'm really new to this, but when we say an exhaust is, for example, 2.25" or 2.36" (60mm)... are we talking outside or inside diameter?
For example, I have an RSR Exmag which is 60mm. I'm wanting to get a header and high flow cat to mate to it... but I want to be 100% sure my sizing is all correct. That being said, does anyone know part/model numbers on borth Random Tech and Carsound/Magnaflow?
I think I would prefer the Random Tech, because beinag able to bolt up is a huge thing to me, to avoid welding, and I don't have to worry about emissions or CARB issues where I live in KY. Louisiville was the only city doing it, Lexington does not.
Just in case it matters to any of you, the off the shelf Random Technolgy cat is 2" in diameter. If you call, them they can make it for you in any size you want.
When I was speaking to them about my custom one, they told me it was the elements inside the cat itseld that made their flow more than stock.
I bought a Magnaflow Hi Flow..... CEL was already on...about 4 weeks later CEL went off...I feel little gains top end.. cost about $50. Never really heard anyone talk about Magnaflow Cats though.....why is that?

Because of lot of people associated that brand name with domestics and they don't think it's cool to have one. Also just plain old name brand recognition.
