High Flow Cat or Test Pipe?

Hey guys. To go with my mugen header and SP2 exhaust I want to fill in the gap. Right now the stock Cat is on there and I have a test pipe. I know the fine for no cat is huge but my buddy has had a race header on his first RSX for two years and now has it on his 05 RSX and has never gotten caught. Even after he rolled his first RSX into a ditch and the cops stood there and watched the towing company pull it out, they still didn't even notice the cat was missing. Since my car is a 2000 model and its older than both of his RSX's i think it may blow out a decent amount of smoke with the test pipe. I'm not sure what to do or if a test pipe over a high flow cat will really give me a significant change in the HP/Torque gains. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If the car needs a CAT-then you should consider a High flow model. Random Tech, CATCO (my choice for price) and Carsound each make one for our Ludes. The supposed gain versus the illegality is not great on an otherwise stock engine tuned for the street. You can go back in time to the days of V-8's and rag racing and find articles that prove that a CAT and properly tuned header(s) work well. THe same holds true today. Just real advice.
