High-Comp. Piston Question- noob

I have dissassemble my JdM h22 engine and Im thinking about getting high compression piston for it. Is there any requirement on resleeving or rehoneing the block or anything? What kinds/type of materials are they made? Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Not if you get the Type-S pistons, but they will only increase your comp ratio by .4:1 making it 11:1(rather than the 10.6:1 you currently have).

As for other pistons,. honestly, I';m not sure, sorry to waste your time.

I know the general rule for H22's: If your going forged, you must resleeve.

But that's about all I know.

Mahle Gold pistons are also supposed to be FRM compatible. PDE (Type R) pistions would also be compatible. Anything else you will have to resleeve.

I have never once heard of a good, long term review of a mahle gold user.

I have never done any building on any H22 ever, nor have I done research.

but for the sake of conversation, I would think your 10.6:1 ratio from the factory would be good enough, but of course something closer to 11(like the Type-S) would be even more advantageous.

Keep in mind that resleeving for better pistons is quite a job, and quite a bit of money after you've finished buying parts and labor.

If you really need that 12:1 or higher comp ratio, then go for it! But that is up to you and your budget. If I were making a weekend worrior of some sort and just wanted it to be a bit faster, I'd just live with the 11:1 the Type-S offers. Because your next(most reliable) step is going to cost at least $1K.

Not really, I'd think you could google it and find some Japanese importer that could get them.

I'll see what I can do.

How hard did you look?

1st google hit
JDM Prelude BB6 Type S Piston 220HP BB6 H22A S Spec Standard Size

Also as said Japanese suppliers.
Both Greenline Motorsports - Bringing you the world's cheapest Japanese performance parts and JDM Parts and Racing Accessories direct from Japan: RHDJapan.com I doubt have them listed but can supply them if you provide the part number. You are looking at around ¥5300-5500 per piston plus shipping, so ICB is probably cheaper unless you need B's.

13010-P5P-J00 = Type A
13020-P5P-J00 = Type B
13030-P5P-J00 = 0.25 OS
