HID question, anyone with them plz read

I think my next mod is going to be HID lighting, i have a couple questions..

Do the bulbs burn out really quickly like say piaa bulbs? and when they do burn out how much are replacements?

Are there any quality kits available for around $400-$500? I dont really want to spend more than that.. which ones? pics?

and also, where can i get them from? any sites?

thanks a lot guys!

i can help you out. the HID bulbs (if they are quality) will outlast the life of your car, or atleast the time which you own it. You should not have any trouble with replacements, but if you do they are expensive, about $100 a piece. Unfortunately the prelude's housing isnt the best for HID, i suggest you do a search. There have been many debates over this. I suggest you visit one very good site, partly kept up by AndoOKC, Http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com

Oh ok What i will probably do (if possible) Is install the HID kit, but since they are really bright, i will use them as high beams, and use my current PIAA's as low beams, but actually put them in the high beam socket.. did that make sense?

uh... no offense man, but what's the point of spending 500 for a good pair of high beams. if yr not gonna use HID for low beams, there is no point. use yr money for something else

I will use them as my low beams, but i mean if there is on comming traffic or something and im blinding people i can switch over to the piaa's which arent bright at all. Other then that I would obviously always have em on

Right now i think im going to go with philips HID kit, which is around $~500, but you can probably find it for a bit cheaper then that..

just want to find some people with the philips kit + pics, so i can see how it looks

thanks Gohan for the HID that goes with the CL/TL, you need to do modifications. You need to get an upgraded wiring harness that goes from H1-9006. Then plug the 9006 into the ballasts. Then you need to make the hole slightly larger to accomodate the HID bulb i believe, and then move the reflector forwards. Remember, yr beam pattern won't be too great.

If you guys want Phillips HID's I'll sell you the kit for $350. I have them in my car. They are bright as hell, I would seriously suggest that you let AndoOKC put projectors in your car. I'll sell you all the necessary componets, and he'll do the install. E-mail me or IM me @ specialque if you are interest.

Just ask Soccer3303,

I hooked his car up and I can hook it up the same way. AIM me at "AndoOKC" for more info. or email me. You can go with either Audi S4/A4, Audi TT, or BMW 3 Series (E46).
