Hi im new here, want to buy a prelude...got a question...thanks

hello

i want to buy a new 2001 prelude, i haven't booked a test drive appoinment yet, but i got a question about the power steering.
Is the steering very smooth or is it kind of stiff? Also is the power assit too OVER ASSISTED or...I've drove many cars like Accord, Integra, Civic, Corolla, Protege 5, Camry, Tercel, Ford Focus....
and some of them is stiff and some is kind of over assisted like it steers by itself and wiggles so much, but i like the camry its very smooth..

Can somebody help me out?

your ride is gonna be very smooth not really any kind of jerking or anything like that. Go for the test drive, I'll bet you $5 you will like it best out of all the cars you test drove!

The steering wheel turn is very easy n smooth. Yeah, I've driven some cars that I can't even believe they have power steering. Just go test drive one and I'm sure you'll like it. Well, good luck!!

I don't know about you, but a test drive would tell me squat because it takes me a while to get comfortable with a car. I test drove 5 cars (Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, Maxima SE, RSX, RSX Type S, Subaru WRX) and I bought the Prelude without even test driving it! The first time I drove it I didn't like it, but this thing grows on you like crazy. The more you drive it the more you'll love it.

The steering is VERY precise and not overboosted (like the Spec V), the cornering stability is amazing, and stupid mistakes (like braking in a corner) are forgiven by the stock suspension with the right amount of opposite lock. The RSX Type S has a better steering wheel and has much less steering boost, but the Prelude is better for everyday driving.

I'd say buy this car! It's probably the best car I could have bought for the price, better than the RSX Type S, much better than the Spec V. The WRX beats it hands down, but for nearly CDN$11,000 more.

The steering is very smooth, responsive and precise. It's kind of stiff (or heavy) when the car is new and loosen up a little bit afterwards, but you can always adjust it back to the original stiff feels.

i think the steering is lose compared to other cars. before i got my prelude i drove my sisters clk320 and that was much stiffer to turn, i guess i got used to the prelude though. i think its very much like an accord.

is the 2001 white colour differeint than the other years?

Cuz i seen' some dull yellowish white ludes and some bit brighter white ones..

or is it just the lighting problems during the day or mid day views etc....or jus dirty..

cuz the white seems very nice..i want the electron blue pearl...but then white seems sooo clean and handsome..but im worried how it get dirty when splash in rain, mud etc..

does the blue hide the mud dirtyness better?

I have a 2001 prelude, it's my second prelude, (98 prelude

before). The steering isn't like porche's steering, super stiff, but

it's stiff enough for the cars hp output. I think the steering gets

bit loose after 95mph, and after that 110 or so, it gets stiffer

again. I think it's perfect powersteering assist for cornering and

it's smooth. I think the preludes made after 99 is little bit better

made. Better fit, and more refined. No more tint sound when

you close the door. I was thinking about getting

WRX, integra or celica after my accident with my previous prelude,

but it's a different species, prelude. The sitting arrangement is

more sports car then any of those sedan based sporty cars. The

clutch is buried deep inside and you lay back like driving a

corvette or something. Porches like that... I think I would buy

another prelude, next time. You could always turbocharge it and

beat WRX all day long. peace out.
