Hey guys, I'm a new prelude owner

Hey guys. My name is Justin, and I'm 18. I purchased my first car yesterday and I love it.

97 prelude BM
5spd
Has a couple of mods...

I plan on adding some more stuff soon, but I'm keeping it simple for now.. What do you guys think some good starter mods would be? To make it run better and stuff. I'm a newb to the car game and I'm just here to learn more.

In my opinion; a catback, and a p-spec short shifter.

What we knows is:

It's not how you stand by your car. It's how you race your car.

first off you gotta throw down the sideways peace signs.....then perhaps look into some serious audio entertainment.........then run a 250 shot of NOS hooked into two or more bottles and you are set.

Sideways peace signs? lol

And thanks guys I'll look into the catback and short shifter.

I'm sad I had to leave it at my cousins in jersey for the week, until I get my plates and stuff on friday..

There was another thread with some guy that posted about 10+ pics of himself at different times. Every single pic had him throwing up a sideways peace-sign.

Nice car man. Good starter mods...hmmmmmm maybe a good header, like Hytech or SMSP.

you don't consider exhaust a starter mod?

Ok, well then maybe you could consider a nice tune up. Replace all fluids. Spark-plugs/wires. Cap and rotor. Brakes.

Want a little more stopping power? Get Hawks pads.

hey welcome to the site and have fun with your car.when i first bought my lude i had a little too much fun.owned a 1989 crown vic for 2 years and never got pulled over.owned prelude for 4 months got pulled over 5 times and ticketed twice .first thing I would do is get rid of the "PRELUDE" lettering on the rear bumper but thats just me.enjoy it and keep it clean

Yeah, before you start modding it, perform a tune-up. Nice Prelude!

I second this. The car looks pretty nice so far. I think it would look even better with a nice set of wheels. I think the base wheels look especially funny on a prelude that has the OEM lip kit (or any lip kit).

How many miles does your car have? Is the suspension still stock? I'm guessing its not from the pictures (it looks about an inch or two lower than stock) but if so, I would suggest spending some money on a nice suspension first as well as the tuneup.

Welcome to the site!

Thanks everyone, it has 135 on the clock.

I'm going to look into the tune up.

how can I take the prelude letters off the back? I want the small prelude badge and the vtec badge that goes on the trunk.

And as far as the suspension, I bought it off of the owner with sport springs, but he also included the stock springs, which I plan on putting on very soon.

I think your car looks great already and you are off to a wonderful start.

Personally, I love the body kit. I think it's OEM but it might be Wings West. I also like the Mugen replica whale tale. The Wings West RS kit is the exact same one I am putting on my car plus I have the Mugen wing.

For your next mod I'd do rims. 17's though. Not 18's because the potholes in Jersey will DESTROY your rims.

Thanks gtf

I'm actually from New york city, where the pot holes are worse LOL

The front lip is from wings west, and the sideskirts and rear are from honda.

What are some nice rims that would make my lude look better?
