HELP PLEASE!!! 00' Lude keeps dying!!

Hey guys, I need help. Ok, I have a 00' Prelude with a 96' JDM Type S swap. When I start the car it runs fine for about 5 minutes and then all of a sudden dies. Then it wont start again. The engine turns over but its as if it is out of gas, or there is no spark or something. But if I leave it for a couple hours, it starts right up, no problems, but dies again after about 5 minutes or a couple miles. Could it be the fuel pump? I hear it when I turn the key on, and I know there is spark. I dont know, it boggles my mind. Has this happened before to anyone? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you guys in adavance and have a great day!!
Peace,
Jeff

Is the check engine light on? Were you having any issues before this started?

No it isnt throwing any codes. This actually started about a week ago. At first it would shut off, but the it would start right up again That would happen about twice a day and then it just all of a sudden died and now like i said, I can only get it to drive about 2 miles before it completely shuts down again. I can hear the hum of the fuel pump priming, but a mechanic friend says the fuel pump may work when it is cold but when it warms up, it may stop pumping... I dont believe this is the problem though.

My Prelude does something similar, it will drive fine for 15 minutes then start bucking and stall. It will start up again directly after but will run like crap and only for a few seconds. It also will work perfect again a few hours later. I thought it might be my ECU because I swapped in a H23A with a 5-speed from an automatic and did the soldering trick on the auto ECU to work as a manual. If the pump ends up being your problem I might have to try replacing mine.

When was the last time you changed the plugs, cap and rotor? Possibly the ICM is going out. When its cranking and cranking, are you getting spark?

Actually I havent did anything to it but an oil change. I purchased the car this past August and I didnt need to do anything to it, it ran beautifully til now. But I need to do some things to single out the problem... but the crappy thing is, its in my girlfriends underground parking garage and we just broke up yesterday and it wasnt a good breakup....and I cant get to my car without her and shes blocked me from FB and emails.... the last thing she said to me was "your cars getting keyed tonight buddy"!!! And I havent seen my car since yesterday. I hope shes just bluffing me, she already kicked in my front passenger fender..... but luckly I plan on buying jdm fenders, lol..... the scorn of a woman. It sucks cuz I cant get my car going to get it out of there and a tow truck cant get down there to get it either..... I have the worst luck!! When I go there tomorrow Ill let you all know if she destroyed my brand new pearl white paint job!!

Well I got my car today, it was all good. Didnt get keyed, lol. It started right up, first crank, ran perfect, didnt swall out at all, but I only drove it a couple miles to my mechanics... If I didnt have a ride there waiting for me, I would have let it run until it stalled or at least long enuf to see if it would even stall out. So I dont know, we'll find out the problem tomorrow I guess! Ill keep you posted guys!! Thanks for the help!!

Have your swapped your ignition switch? If i recalled i was having issues like that, and came out to be my ignition switch/electrical part. Let us know what your mechanic says

Hey guys, what a day!! First off, I go to my mechanic which is across town, when I got there, he had the car on the hoist and said its been running for about an hour and it hadnt stalled out once yet. So he said take it for a ride and see what happens. So I drive for about 15 min and it died on the freeway, so I pull off to the side and luckly my buddy was following me in his Jetta. So we decide that it cant sit on the side of the expressway so he starts pushing me with his car, just to get off on the next exit, but before we make it that far, the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) stops us. He asks for my ownership and insurance. Now Im starting to sweat cuz I have no insurance on my car, so I handed him a piece of white paper and on it I wrote a fake policy number and he bought it, lol!!! I was so lucky cuz its a $5000 fine for driving without insurance in Ontario Canada!! But I had to call a tow truck and to bring my car less that 3 miles, it cost me $100!!!!! I just about ran into traffic after hearing that!! So we get it back to my mechanic, he pulls the fuel line to see if its the pump and it isnt as it was pumping great, so he tells me I need a new distributor now, so I have to find one. Hes telling me $260+taxes to fix my car!!! As if!! So I called around to find a new dizzy and I found one for $100. Now, my question is, because my engine is a 96' JDM Type S swap, will any distributor work as long as its an OBD1 H22 VTEC? And would anyone happen to know the part number so I can make sure its the right one before the guy who found me one for $100 orders it, cuz if he orders it and its not the right one, I still have to pay for it, which really sucks!!! So thank you guys in advance for any help you can offer me!!

Also, can I ask a huge favour from anyone from the good ol USA? I live in Canada, and I called in my VIN to a local Honda dealership to see if the recall was done on my Prelude, and because my car is originally from Arizona, Honda Canada couldnt tell me if the recall was done. They told me to contact Honda USA and I dont know anywhere to call in the US to find out, so would someone from the US mind calling their local Honda dealership and give them my VIN to find out about the recal for me PLEASE?? This would really help me out alot. My VIN is: JHMBB6154YC003668 and its a 2000 Prelude. Once again, thank you in advance guys!!
