Sounds like you're low on coolent most likely. But if you're low on coolent, you could also have a leak somewhere. Probably around the rad....bottom of the rad is mostly likely...could be rusty and broken...

Likely to be either your radiator fan or engine coolant temp switch. Do BOTH of your fans come on when the a/c is turned on?

It could also be air in the system. Have you had any recent work done to the radiator or cooling system?

I don't understand why these cars cool down at RPM when they get hot at idle...

I mean, I can see how people did that and it helped with old cars back when the fan was driven by the engine. But now that the fans are electric....how is it that revving your hot engine cools it down? Does it just cycle the water faster(pump)? I don't get how this could help a non-engine driven fan.....

OP--Everyone here seems to have the situation under control, I'll leave it at that.

well what i meant is when i start driving i hold it a 5 not sit and rev it but i found the problem the prelude uses a twin electric fan set up will use one fan for cooling the engine the other fan will be used for cooling the air conditioning and radiator but only works with the ac on mine does not so when i drive up to about 40+ mph it starts to cool down when the wind hits the fan hope that made since

Sitting and revving the car will never cool down an overheating engine. The car has to be moving. The air that enters the engine bay as a result of the car being in motion is what cools it down.

So only one fan comes on with the A/C is turned on then, correct? If that is true, the fan that was installed by the previous owner either isn't wired correctly or it went bad. Check all the wiring that you can first (refer to Helms manual) and if you still have no luck remove the fan and test it. If wiring it up directly to a 12v source doesn't get it to work, buy a new fan.
