The back seat isn't bolted in, it has a clip on each side. I'm confused

maybe he's referring to the sliding latch clip thingy as a bolt. which i would say is correct per this definition i found on dictionary.com

bolt
1   /boʊlt/ Show Spelled[bohlt] Show IPA
–noun
1.
a movable bar or rod that when slid into a socket fastens a door, gate, etc.
2.
the part of a lock that is shot from and drawn back into the case, as by the action of the key.
3.
any of several types of strong fastening rods, pins, or screws, usually threaded to receive a nut.

the other definitions do not relevantly apply.

so before you guys go being unhelpful and unwise, remember that a bolt can be more than just a screw like thingy.

to OP: take a pic, i don't want to assume there's a way to fix it because it sounds like it's broke and needs to be replaced with another functioning latch.

Even though bolt may have multiple definitions your first 2 still don't fit the context of his post so they don't relevantly apply either.

1 has to do with doors and gates. We're talking about a seat in a car.

2 the seat does not have a lock that requires a key action holding it down.

So we're still stuck with number 3. I don't know of any fastening bolt that you can just press in.

Maybe he has number 1 or 2 holding his seat down.
