Help I need a new windshield

Damn trucks man. Driving to work today I got stuck behind a truck. Next thing I know little stones start flying towards the windshield. Damage, 2 big stone chips and a little crack about 1/4 inch maybe less. Do I need a new windshield or can this be fix with some kind of tool? If I do need a new one can anyone recomment a good glass place here in NJ. Thanks.

You could try to of the windshield clear epoxy stuff. But check with your insurance company. Many companies will cover replacing your broken windshield for free because it is a safety issue.

If you got the name of the truck company they may replace it for you too, but I wouldn't bet on it. And a lot of the time your insurance will cover it, but more often than not (at least for me) my deductable is more than the actual windshield. I've heard you should put clear finger nail polish on the crack to prevent it from spreading. I've never tried it, but heard it works...

if its a small crack get it repaired with apoxy IMMEDIATELY... because that crack will keep growing and then you will have to replace the windshield...

Clear epoxy what? Never hear of that. I call my insurance. My deductable is more than the windshield. I guess now I have something to do this weekend.

ok do this before you go and pay for a entirely new windshield... look in the yellow pages and look under window or automotive repair and im pretty sure you will find ads for windshiled repair places... my friend had his windshield repaired for about 50-75 cheap compared to replacing the entire windshield
good luck

I'm doing this as we speak. I found a place 2 blocks from my house. I'm paying them a visit tomorrow. Thanks.

oh i forgot to mention if the crack is bigger than 6in's (i think or around that) you have to replace and they cannot repair it... if they tell you they can then take to or call another windshield repair shop and see what they say...

Hey dude what's up? Yeah I have to replace it. The two places I went to said that they can fix it. But, I've decided to replace it. The windshield is full of little stone chips and marks from debris on the road. When the sun hits it it looks terrible. It looks like my windshield is always dirty. Can you give me the name of the place you when to? I don't trust the places around here. Thanks for the help guys.

If you have inurance, then call them and let them know. This isn't a privelage, it's the whole reason people buy insurance so take advantage of it.

D&C Chevy Honda in Tenafly NJ.
You will not have your car back the same day it goes in. The tar must set before they give the car back to you so have another means of transportation. $372.06 is how much my invoice says (might be a rip but who cares now) and the number is (201) 569-5515.
