Help!!! I Broke A Bolt (or A Stud) While Trying To Tighten Down My Valve Cover

Hey guys!! While I was tighten down my valve cover, I'm not sure it the stud that I broke was screwed in or welded in, I hope it is a screwed in stud so I can just get another one from Honda, and if it was a part of the engine and was 1 piece constructed...than I'm f-ucked. Do I have to buy another engine just because I broke 1 of the bolt? I don't want oil to leak out of my valve cover you know just because 1 of the bolt is not there, the little round rubber gasket piece is still there though. Please help me out guys...I'm sorry for not explaining it any better but this is the best that I can do. Thanks

It looks like you will be able to replace the bolt by a picture that i have. You will need to remove the valve cover again to replace it though.
What you can do to seal the cover is to use some gasket maker and seal the whole edge to insure that it will be sealed off.
What kind of torque were you putting on that poor bolt. I'm sure that the Helms calls out a torque for that nut!! They are there for a reason. You are not holding anything together just trying to seal the head.
I would post the picture that i have but i don't know how to Oh well. Just take it easy next time. You should be ok.

New engine? No.
But use a torque wrench next time.

I hope I can just do that, I'd be happy if they charge less than $100 for it.

I used my hand to tighten it..I didn't even do it that hard..I guess it's because the engine was kinda warm and the stud got softer or something. So I guess the stud is 1 piece constructed with the engine right? because if it is, than I would have to get new engine. I think I will get a new valve cover gasket to stop the oil leakage. Just so you guys know... I 've broken a wheel stud a few month ago also, Honda charged me $60 for half an hr of labor. I never have any luck with nuts and bolts man..

The stud and engine is not a one-piece assembly. Just go buy another stud and valve cover gasket and you will be fine. Follow Joon's advice. Get a torque wrench if you're going to do this stuff. And to think, my friend's always ask why I have three torque wrenches....

This could be your valve cover should one of the middle seals not seal correctly.

Hope you get your situation resolved.

That is Exactly what happened, so I tried to tighten up the bolts and... I already ordered a new gasket from Manhonda.com, and another stud and nut. It all should be fine in a week. Thanks ALOT guys for helping me out
