HELP: Fog light Install

hey guys, just got some fog-lights in from ebay and I'm having some trouble hooking them up..

My set comes with a harness but no "brown clips" as is the case with most/ if not all fog-light install guides...

The only wires I have are the Switch+connector (no problem), the fog light relay (no problem), the fog light split(what connects the "1st wire harness to the fog-light harness (the one directly connected to the lights on both sides, no problem here. I have a white "power wire" which I connected straight to my positive side of my battery, and green "ignition" wire which it says I need to connect to either fuse box or parking lights (I dont know how to do either), and 2 black ground wires (no problem here, i plugged them to the body of the car).

I've tried hooking up both the power and ignition wires to the positive side of the battery directly, but it didnt work... I'm not sure how I can hook up these fogs to my parking lights or what that wire even looks like (or where It's located) and I since I only have 1 green wire to connect to my fuse box and no "coupler" then I'm not sure how I can attach it to the fuse :S

Here's the included plan:

Should I take the green "ignition wire" and connect it to the Orange wire that comes pre-wired in the lude and leads to the fiusebox ? If so, how do I connect the other end to the connector port ?

Do I even need the external harness (shown on the right side of the pic)?

As for the white "power" wire, I need to hook that up to the battery somehow..... any ideas ?

any ideas ? lol im rly lost.

Follow this.

Write-Up: 5th Gen JDM Fog Installation Instructions w/ pics

Now the things you'll do different. Ditch the wire that connects the interior and exterior harnesses. The car comes prewired for that. You will have to cut and replace the ends that you can connect to that wire. There are a few obvious differences that you should be able to work out for yourself. But if you have anymore questions, lets us know.

yeah i get that the "orange wires" (that i dont have in my kit) come stock to the prelude and act as an external harness to connect both fogs to the fuse box, that's fine. The problem is more when connecting this pre-existing Orange line to the fusebox. I have one pre-wired orange wire sticking out through the firewall which connects the pre-wired external harness, but I don't have any of the brown clips to fit it to the connector ports in the fusebox.... any ideas ? should I just run the Orange wire that's already there, strip it, and attach it to the pin of the connectors without having the brown clips there to hold it ?

Well mine came with brown clips. But there were horrible. Just horrible. I ended citting them off, and pulling out the spades that were in them. And just shoving those into the fuse box. Haven't had a problem yet.

Well on part 13 of the install interior harness section. You have to choose where to plug in the fusebox. My little brown clips sucked, so I took them off but left the female spade connector on the wire. And just used that to plug it in. Since you already stripped the wire I would get some female spade connectors, (I think that's what they are called) use those.

Yeah, one of these
C.R. LAURENCE CRL Solderless Female Spade Connectors AV5068

which you can get at any hardware store.

Alright, so the two back wires on the external harness, are grounds. The Red one you need to rewire the end with a bullit connector or quick disconnect connecor, what it's called. Because the Prelude is prewired for fogs. So what you're doing is fixing your ebay fogs wiring to be compatible with the existing wiring. Same with the interior harness. Can't remember the green and white ones. You really should read the tutorial on this.

Bump for the solution to this green wire white wire dilema. I just recieved a set of the same fogs and ran into the same issues. I haven't been able to even find someone who knows about this harness until this post.
Does anyone out there know the answer

Also, hey, I usually hang out on preludepower but I've always heard good things about you guys over here.

Hi all. Sorry to bump this thread but I think I have some helpful info.

My Ebay fogs Arrived today to me(I live in Spain) and they are the same. They don't seem to match the oem wiring but I'll tell you how I've done it, and it works(just installed mine!)

So, you put your fog lights in the bumper normally, you get the black ground wire to the chassis, and you locate the orange pre-wired wire. Now, at this point, you connect the red wire from the fog lights with the orange pre-wired, using a male cilindric connector.

Now, inside the car, you find the orange wire and connect it with the red wire from the interior harness with a female cilindric connector.

So you now have a black ground from the interior, a white wire which is supposed to go to the batery, and a green wire. The white one goes in the slot "5" in the fuse box instead of the brown connector, and the green goes to the slot "2", again instead of the brown connector. All you have to do is attach one Faston female connector to each wire and connect them in place. The ground wire goes to te chassis again.

Now you are done

Thanks Mochilo123, I did the same thing you mentioned before. Basically the orange wires (external and internal) are replaced with the red wires instead.

For the two brown connectors, you have two options(buy the universal connectors or buy a female stereo wire connectors they fit directly in the slot 2 and 5)

Here is what I did. First cut out the male and female connector from the red wires and hook it up with both the orange wires (int&ext) and use the female connector to connect with the green wire (slot 2) and second option you can use on female stereo wire connector for wire and crimp it then connect to slot 5.

Yes exactly that's how it goes

It's fine to tell here how it has to be done as I haven't seen out there any DIY for these Ebay fogs, and when you first see all the wires you'll possibly get scared

man It's been so long so I can't remember the exact details. This was the first ermm I wouldn't say "Mod" but it was the first thing I added to the lude when I got it back then and I also purchased it off ebay. Works till today (almost 4 years)... I remember following the instruction of some thread and ran into the brown clips problem too. I remember splicing it somewhere but can't remember exactly. I'll go out to the car when it's warmer or at work tmr and see if I can snap some pics

So the 5th gen is prewired for fogs? Because mine didn't come with them and I'm confused if I'm supposed to run the ebay fog wiring through the firewall.
