help with factory keyless entry!!

whats up guys i bought my lude a few months ago as a daily driver (third prelude) and ive been meaning to get my key fob to work but cant figure it out, all the factory alarm stuff is in the car and doesnt appear to be tampered with, my key fob was dead so i put a battery in it and did the re program method and nothing happened(locks didnt cycle), ive noticed that the red light on the fob is stuck on at all times, could it be as simple as a defective fob? is there any way to test the keyless entry system? my security light DOES come on after i shut the car off, but as far as the remote, nothing..thanks in advance!

Get another key fob or see if a local dealer will be gracious enough to borrow one of theirs.

There are a few used ones on ebay. Though if you have the optional security system, I assume you'll need the fob with the panic button option, not just the regular key less entry fob.

Have you tried cleaning the fob? Did you visually inspect it for anything obvious like corrosion? I replace batteries in key fobs frequently you can usually just pop the board out and hit it with some CRC contact cleaner or you might be able to use rubbing alcohol. It might not work, but it's worth a shot if it ends up saving you from buying a new one.

yeah i did try cleaning it, it almost looks like the previous owner may have dropped it in water or something because some of the connections just look corroded and when i cleaned the corrosion off it was just slightly rusted, the weird thing is though when the fob is assembled the red light stays on, like whenever the battery is making contact with the board it makes the light stay on, im starting to think it may just be a bad fob
