Help, car starting up slowly or not at all

Car has not been turning over as quickly as before. Sometimes it will take 4 or 5 cranks before it will start. Recently it doesn't even turn over at all. The lights would turn on in the instrument panel and I would hear a slight click then nothing. Then I would start it again and it would fire up.

I find that if i rev the engine a bit before shutting down it helps a little bit on startup the next time.

I've recently replaced the alternator and checked the battery about 3 months ago and seems to be okay. I'm guessing bad starter? Is there anything else I can check before taking that thing out?

Could be the starter for the slow crank. but it could be a fule pressure regulater problem.

If revving it helps the next start up, it makes me think something fuel related... but I'm still used to carbureted stuff so idk

Sounds like your starter is about to go bye bye. That click you hear when you try to crank it is your starter solenoid clicking. This means that the solenoid is good but the brushes in the starter is worn down and isn't making as good of a contact as it should. If it gets worse and you can't start it then just hit the starter body with a wrench a few times and it should crank over. Won't work for long, though. Either that or your VTECH fluid could be extremely low so check that first.

Where is the VTECH fluid, didn't even realize there was some. What can I check to rule out a fuel supply issue.

Thanks for the responses.

You should check the battery as well. Goto AutoZone and have them run a diagnostic check on the battery. Or if you have a multimeter, check the voltage output.

VTECH fluid. Ignore that. Dan's being g#y.
