what is the crank pulley supposed to look like? by this i mean is it supposed to be 1 piece?
the noise is coming from the outer alternator pulley slipping around the inner ps portion of the crank pulley. it is a definite metal on metal rubbing noise which makes sense and explains why the 2 pulleys have a very smooth polished surface between them. why is this happening? is this how it's supposed to be?
i've heard talk of harmonic balancers around the boards, which is supposed to consist of a layer of rubber. is there supposed to be a layer of rubber between the alternator and ps portions of the crank pulley? or are they supposed to be 2 pieces that come apart and just slip over/inside each other?
