headlight issues...

hey guys,
first timer here. i just bought my first lude- 5th gen, auto (yeah, i know), 198k miles.
so my problem is that the driver side headlight doesn't work. when i flick the high beams on, there is only a slight glow on the bulb. i've replaced the bulb, cleaned the contacts, and checked the fuses, with the same result. behind the headlight is another gray plug, not connected. it's a little smaller than the h1 connector. i'm thinking of splicing the wires together to see what happens, but wanted to check to see if anyone knows where this plug was designated or what could possibly be my problem.
also worth noting is that it's a reconstructed and the engine was swapped out who knows when, so maybe a different harness?

here is the picture of the headlight:

also, does anyone know where this positive cable goes? car runs fine, but i'm sure it's supposed to go somewhere.

thanks for any help guys, i'm not sure where to check next.

Check to see if your light relay is good, as for the wire coming from the positive, it's pretty obvious to me that it's a power wire for an aftermarket amp. You better disconnect it or remove it or at the least find the other end of it because if that grounds out to your chassis you're in big trouble you could fry every wire in the car

The connector you're holding is for the factory alarm if you were to get one, leave it alone. The wire you're pointing to is not stock. Remove it and discard. Your next step in diagnosing the headlight problem is replacing the headlight relay.

it's now fixed- i had a guy install an aftermarket alarm in it, and when he was done, it was working! he said that he didn't do anything outside of installing an alarm. but either way, it works now, and we'll never know what the problem was... either way, i'm grateful for the suggestions. Thanks Shimee and Bzar57!
